| BERLIN (AP) - Top-seeded Martina Hingis breezed into the
third round of the German Open with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Gala Leon Garcia
today.
Jana Novotna, the No. 2 seed, was upset by Ruxandra Dragomir 7-6 (7-4),

match points, but she also battled back from a 4-0 deficit in the third
to carve out a 7-6 (7-0), 6-7 (5-7), 7-6 (8-6) victory.
Another seed to fall was No. 11 Dominique van Roost, who lost 6-3, 7-5,
to Elena Likhovtseva.
In a first-round match, Jennifer Capriati beat Amanda Hopmans, a ``lucky
loser'' from the Netherlands, 6-4, 4-6, 6-1.
The schedule was again interrupted by rain.
