| TOKYO (Reuters) - World number one Lindsay Davenport and three-time champion Martina Hingis are scheduled to head a top-class singles draw at next year's Toray Pan Pacific Open, tournament organizers said Wednesday.
Serena Williams and Jelena Dokic, who won the Toyota Princess Cup in Tokyo in October, have also entered the first-tier event which gets under way on January 29 at Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium and offers a total purse of $1.22 million.
Russian Anna Kournikova, who is making her way back from injury, has been granted a wild card after dropping to number 71 in the world rankings, organizers confirmed.
Davenport defeated Hingis in last year's final and the Californian finished the year in style by recapturing the women's number one ranking from Jennifer Capriati late in the season. |
