| DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) -- Top-ranked Martina
Hingis of Switzerland faced some tense moments in the first set but recovered
to beat seventh-seeded Tamarine Tanasugarn of Thailand 7-6 (6), 6-1 and
reach the final of the $565,000 Sanex WTA Dubai Open Friday.
Hingis had to come from behind in the first set, fighting off three
set points and winning the tiebreaker 8-6.
``Winning the first set was the key,'' she said. ``It was hard to get
(my) concentration and keep it. I always have little problems playing in
new tournaments.''
Tanasugarn pointed out that Hingis had lifted her game in the second
set and was very aggressive.
``When I had three sets points in the first set I had to do something
different but maybe I tried too hard,'' she said.
``I played well today but I lost a little bit of concentration and then
maybe I got rushed a bit,'' the 23-year-old Thai said.
