| PARIS (Reuters) - France's Amelie Mauresmo upset Swiss world number one
Martina Hingis in a tense three-set tie to reach
the Paris Open semifinals Friday.
The towering French player recovered from a slow start to take a 2-6
6-1 6-3 revenge over world number one Hingis, who
beat her in the Australian Open final in January.
Mauresmo was also keen to win Friday to silence comments made by Hingis,
who called her ``half a man'' before the
Melbourne final.
``Today I beat the world number one and this is something I'm not going
to forget,'' Mauresmo said. ``In Australia, I had
beaten Lindsay Davenport who was in the top spot then. Today I beat
the other one, and this is superb.''
